We are two individuals - now expats, friends & partners in Delhi, INDIA, and originally from Singapore & France- who got out of our comfort zones, landed in India, and are now living our masala lives & loving our masala chais!
Inspired & excited, we had decided to concoct our own new refreshing Tee flavor,and we brewed, spiced & frothed and sweetened it to perfection calling it Masala Tee (with all puns intended, of course). We've now officially set up our indie Tee company calling ourselves Tee Wallah Etc, and we set about concocting our first Tee Collection calling our brand, "Masala Tee".
(GLOSSARY: In India, the suffix -wala {or -wallah}, indicates a person involved in some kind of activity; for example auto-wallah, a taxi driver and chai-wallah, a boy or young man who serves tea. And 'Masala' is the Hindi word for spice or, in practice, a mixture of spices; the blend of flavors that make a dish taste just right, giving you that right zing! And Masala chai {“spiced tea”} is a beverage from the Indian subcontinent made by brewing tea with a mixture of aromatic Indian spices & herbs. By itself, chai is merely the generic word for tea in much of the world).
First, let's introduce you to our Masala Tee philosophy:
Masala Tee is for 'Masala' philosophy. The idea of 'Masala' is the root of our inspiration. And the idea of 'Masala Tee' is the branch that grew out of it. We connected to the idea of 'Masala' being a mixture of spices or that blend of flavors that make a dish taste just right, giving you that right zing. For us, 'Masala' philosophy would mean an interest & respect for all cultures, an appreciation of the melting pot and love of everything different & enriching AND that gives you a kick in life!
And the Masala Tee wallahs decided to give our lives (and others!) a kick, and started to set about concocting our Masala Tee potion.

1992 - 2008Both partners come from the Creative/Marketing world.
One has graduated from Social Sciences & Journalism from the National University of Singapore with 14 years Advertising/Marketing/Creative experience- having worked in Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising in Singapore & Malaysia, as well as Publicis Group in Paris and India, as well as 4 years' experience as a Freelance Writer/Copywriter for Lifestyle Magazines/Ad Agencies in Shanghai, China.
And the other, has graduated from one of the top Design Institutions in Paris, and having worked as a Freelance Designer/Creative for many esteemed projects in France and India in the last 10 years.
Both are now based in India, Delhi and loving their masala lives!
