Iftikhar Ahsan

I did master’s in pharmaceutical sciences with specialization in medicinal chemistry (M.Pharm). I have also completed post graduate diploma in intellectual property rights ( PGD IPR) and a registered Indian Patent Agent dealing in patent applications related to pharmaceutical technology, process chemistry and new chemical entity.

I started my career as a patent associate with K&S Partners a reputed law firm based in India. My job profile in K&S was pharmaceutical patent prosecution, handling of prosecution matters at patent offices, analyzing the First Examination Report, advising clients on legal and technical matters, drafting complete specifications etc.

After serving for more than a year at K&S Partners I moved on to join Teva Pharmaceuticals, world’s largest generic pharma company and worked as a Senior Officer in IPM department.
During my tenure with Teva, I worked on synthetic process development strategies and suggested one novel route for synthesis of API. I have also worked on preparation of technology landscapes for almost 25 pharmaceutical compounds including several pre-registered molecules and drafted process patent application for Teva API India. My other area of practice is infringement analysis, third party landscape, communicating with in-house scientists, patent watch on various opposition matters running in India and search on various data bases including structure based search in SciFinder & STN.

At present, I am working in legal outsourcing industry as a Senior IP Analyst with Bioxcel corporation, a US based business analytics company, My job responsibility include outsourcing business development in domain of structure based search using STN portal, FTO analysis, USPTO office action analysis, technology landscape, licensing and competitive intelligence etc.

I am also a registered pharmacist with Delhi Pharmacy Council and has part-time experience of working with a pharmacy. My registration No. is 16069.
